I heard a story about Andy, don’ know if it’s true but it should be!
After a Motherwell v Celtic game (which Motherwell won), Jock Stein remarked at how good the playing surface was, and Andy (who was passing) said “Nae wonder wi’ the sh**e that was on it today.
Priceless, just like Andy.
Andy Russell was my uncle also and it was wonderful to see this footage again. I was there in ’91 with my Dad (William Russell) and I remember seeing this clip on the news the night before the final. One of the best days ever. I’ll be at the final this Saturday also, with one of my sons – to continue the family connection to The ‘Well.
Gone but never forgotten. One of my pals was working at Fir Park and made the mistake of setting foot on the pitch. Needless to say, he never did it again…
